synternet token migration

Introduction

On the 27th day of June 2024 at 08:00 UTC, Synternet will be undergoing a significant transition, moving from its old token, NOIA, to a new token named $SYNT. This migration and bridge to the Cosmos blockchain serves multiple purposes, including maintaining a presence in the Ethereum ecosystem, facilitating capital raising, and enabling liquidity provision and trading on exchanges under a new company name. Additionally, the new token, ETOKEN, has properties like mintable and burnable functionalities, allowing for bridging to the native utility token, CTOKEN, which is inflationary and crucial for incentivizing stakers.

New Token and Migrator Deployment

To implement this migration, the Token.sol and Migrator.sol contracts are deployed with specific constructor parameters, including the new token's name, symbol, and maximum supply. The Migrator contract is granted permissions to mint ETOKEN and burn migrated NOIA tokens to prevent double spending. NOIA holders are given a 13 month window to migrate their tokens by initiating a single transaction, facilitated by a user-friendly Migrator UI.

End of Migration

Once the migration period ends, the Migrator contract expires, and any unmigrated NOIA tokens become worthless. Additionally, an equalising action may be performed on the CTOKEN supply to match the amount of unmigrated NOIA tokens, ensuring balance within the ecosystem.

Launching a Native Blockchain and Bridging

The launch of a native blockchain introduces new token utilities and governance mechanisms, while bridging ensures interoperability between ETOKEN and CTOKEN across ecosystems. By bridging the tokens at a 1:1 rate, Synternet aims to maintain project continuity and achieve various goals, including introducing multiple token utilities, expanding the ecosystem, and increasing the treasury's nominal value needed for attracting additional investment.

Bridge Architecture

Synternet's bridging solution comprises Ethereum-side and Cosmos-side interfaces, along with voucher signer and fee grant relayer services. The design principle involves burn/mint and lock/unlock mechanisms to manage token transfers between ecosystems efficiently. Supplementary services like relayers can enhance user experience by simplifying the bridging process.

Native Blockchain Launch

Synternet’s primary goal in launching a native blockchain is to implement new token utilities and establish a data layer protocol, supported by governance, security, and staking rewards facilitated by CTOKEN. Bridging is aimed at enabling seamless exchange between ETOKEN and CTOKEN at a 1:1 ratio, with CTOKEN serving as the primary token for governance and economic mechanisms, while ETOKEN represents it on the Ethereum ecosystem.

These initiatives are closely linked, ensuring project continuity and achieving key objectives such as introducing token utilities, creating a multi-chain token, and increasing the treasury's value over time through inflationary mechanisms. This approach not only incentivizes stakeholders but also ensures funding for further development of the Data Layer protocol and broader Synternet ecosystem.

Handling of Decimals Difference

The precision difference between CTOKEN and ETOKEN is addressed to ensure accurate token conversions during bridging, with rounding methods applied to maintain consistency.

In summary, Synternet's migration and bridging processes are meticulously designed to ensure a smooth transition between tokens and ecosystems, enabling seamless operations and facilitating the project's growth and development.
